I know many taxpayers are working on a Friday afternoon, but it wouldn't even take a half-day off to make it to Carson City by 3pm and make your point.
Legislature is in session until June 1, so, LAST CHANCE! Start phoning in to the talk radio shows and tell them you support this important American freedom to protest.
Sign Painting Parties: Tues, May 19 and Wed. May 27, 5-8pm, CCW Academy at 9393 Gateway Drive, Reno (Inside SRAC)
There is also a Tea Party that day in Fernley, which is around 11am, I think.

Taxes and Federal Deficit
Tax Freedom Day moves somewhat independently from an alternative calculation that adds the federal budget deficit to total taxes collected. In 2009, an unprecedented budget deficit over $1.5 trillion produces a date of May 29. This is the latest date in the year this deficit-inclusive measure has ever fallen. The only previous years when taxes and deficit spending comprised a similarly large share of national income were 1944 and 1945, at the peak of World War II. In the postwar era, this date had never fallen later than May 9 (in 1992).

The bottom line is, up to May 29, every day you've worked this year has been to PAY YOUR TAX BURDEN - local, state, national, including the federal budget deficit for this year - just this year. NOT the National Debt...just the DEFICIT. So, IF YOU ARE ACTUALLY EMPLOYED, and have been since January 1, you begin to earn something YOU CAN KEEP for yourself and your family on May 30th!!! 5 entire months go to taxes.

Hey, I know the organizer would never ask for this, but I thought I'd pass it along to you in case you care to help.
The cash costs for the April 15th Tea Party were borne entirely by one person. We did have sponsors donate printing, radio spots and PR, sound system, etc., which were, of course, very valuable. So much amazing time and talent were contributed by so many, but there was still a significant cash outlay required.
Costs that had to be paid in cash included:
- $200 for portapotties
- $800 for Legislative Police (required to secure permission to protest there)
- copying and mailing all the petitions to the state legistlature and Nevada's Senators/Congressmen
- Expenses to buy paint, markers and poster board/foamcore for signs
- food for sign painting parties
- Website, domain registration
I don't know what the costs were for the permit and insurance binder. All the cash donations contributed at the sign painting parties "disappeared" and were NOT contributed to the person who actually paid these expenses.
This next Tea Party will have similar costs associated. If you haven't yet paid your "vendor fee" for 4/15, please do so.
